Publix honored for customer satisfaction

This year, Publix moved up to No. 5 on the list and was only one of two supermarkets recognized. In 2009, Publix ranked No. 6.

The Customer Service Champs list highlights the top 50 providers of excellent customer service and the techniques, strategies and tools those companies use to make the customer its top priority. Financial services and insurance company USAA, which has a large presence in the Tampa Bay area, is No. 2 on the list.

Lakeland-based Publix has 1,011 stores in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama and Tennessee, including 59 in Central Florida.

Last week, Publix also was recognized for customer satisfaction by achieving its highest score ever on the American Customer Satisfaction Index.

Publix has held the top spot on that index since it was started in 1994.
