Don Tapia, an alumnus who earned degrees online from Saint Leo University, has donated $4 million to the university.
The gift is the largest in the university’s history, a release said.
The money will be used to help build a facility to house the university’s School of Business and will be named in appreciation of Tapia’s gift.
Tapia owns Essco Wholesale Electric Inc. near Phoenix, which was the largest Hispanic owned company in Arizona in 2008, the release said.
Taking online Saint Leo courses after work for more than two years, he received a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 2005. In 2007, he received his master’s degree from the School of Business.
